29. Day at the Office
This is a good friend of mine. He's an expert on aquatic and semi-aquatic Heteroptera (True Bugs) of Thailand. Believe it or not, there is a distinct fauna of insects, and even fish, that live only on the vertical rock faces of these waterfalls. I traveled around Thailand for 2 months during the summer of 2003 with him. I collected dragonflies while he got bugs. There basically isn't anything either of us would rather be doing that collecting insects. For us, "Living the Dream" isn't just a saying!

30. Elephant Story
Elephants are trained and used as beasts of burden in Thailand. They do much less damage to the forest when used for hauling logs than tractors. This three year old was being "walked" by his trainer when we passed them on the road. We pulled over, then the elephant ran up and snooted me, checked out the car and continued on, eating plants on the roadside. When it was time to go, the trainer yelled and the little elephant whipped around and trotted back to its trainer, just like a puppy. A thousand pound puppy! The two disappeared into the woods to get a drink. Why is this in the people section? Well, honestly, elephants make better people than most people.

31. Floating Market
This is the floating market in Thailand, just outside of Bangkok. Even though its mostly just for tourists now, its still a pretty cool place to visit. This lady is in a boat, and can fix about 20 to 30 distinct meals! The giant pot she is putting noodles in is full of boiling water!

32. Just of Laughs
This denotes the highest point in Thailand, 2,565 meters above sea level. And this is yours truly. I kept a web log while I was collecting in Thailand and posted this on my page. This picture makes me laugh every time I see it. I have no idea why anyone would want a picture of a stranger behind a giant sign proclaiming the highest point of Thailand, but hey, it makes me laugh and its my site!
